Creating ‘Friendly URL’s’

When I first setup WordPress with the defaults the URL appears as ‘http:://www.tonyprodger.com/?p=10′.

Not only is this unsightly it hampers Search engines sending traffic to your blog. How much better to see ‘http://tonyprodger.com/changing-blog/’.

To do this I logged into my admin area and selected settings, permalinks and then Custom Structure.
Then I entered   /%postname%/  .
(use /% postname%/ exactly as written)

That’s a first start to tidying up my Blog
